Responses are due by March 31, 2016 by 10:30 a.m. local time at the Municipal Services Building, 1401 John F. Kennedy Blvd, Room 170A, Philadelphia, PA, 19102. $75,000 Exclusion & Single Sales Factor
There are 2 big changes for the Business Income & Receipts Tax (BIRT) for tax year 2015. First, your first $75,000 in Philadelphia sales is tax-free from the gross receipts portion of the BIRT. Your profits from those sales are also tax free on the Net Income portion of the tax. Also new this year, Philadelphia is moving to Single Sales Factor apportionment for determining the sourcing of receipts for the BIRT. Property and payroll will no longer be considered.
Check out the BIRT Regulations for more details.
